Introduction
You made a great choice with this program, as it will take you to a variety of tourist sites in Cusco, including the City Tour in Cusco and Machu Picchu. You will visit places such as Qorikancha, Saqsayhuaman, Q'enqo, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay, while passing through different communities, many of which still preserve their traditional customs and way of life. This includes economic activities like bartering, as well as agriculture, herding, clothing, language, and other aspects that stand out as part of the cultural heritage of the Andean culture. Finally, we will visit the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.
This Cusco and Machu Picchu travel package is designed for travelers who don’t have much time in Peru but still wish to experience its essence.

Day 1: Arrival in Cusco & City Tour

Itinerary Detailed: Living Essence of Cusco 3 Days
Day 1: CUSCO - CITY TOUR - NEARBY RUINS
Arrival in the Imperial City of Cusco & Qorikancha from the Cusco City Tour
Reception and transfer to the selected hotel. The rest of the morning is free to acclimate to an altitude of approximately 3,350 meters above sea level.
Upon arrival at the hotel, check-in and accommodation.
Later in the afternoon, at 1:30 PM, the Cusco City Tour begins. Between 1:20 and 1:45 PM, hotel pickups will take place to start the city tour and visit nearby ruins. The tour showcases the impressive colonial city built upon Inca foundations.
Visits include La Catedral, a Renaissance-style structure adorned with exquisite paintings from the Cusco School; Qorikancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun. The tour continues with visits to four archaeological sites surrounding Cusco: Sacsayhuaman, a massive fortress located 5 km from the city; Qenqo, a sacred amphitheater and worship site dedicated to the Puma deity, where human sacrifices were performed; Pucapucara, known as the “Red Fortress” due to the reddish hue of its stones at sunset; and Tambomachay, a temple dedicated to the worship of water.
Return to the hotel and overnight stay in Cusco.
Day 2: MACHU PICCHU FROM CUSCO
Breakfast. At the agreed time, transfer to the train station to begin our journey to the citadel of Machu Picchu. After a 3-hour and 15-minute ride, we will arrive at Puente Ruinas Station, where we will board the buses that will take us to the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. This world-renowned example of Inca architecture was discovered in 1911.
We will enjoy a guided tour of the main structures of the citadel, including El Mirador, the Temple of the Three Windows, Intihuatana, and the Main Square, among others.
At the end of the tour, we will take the bus back down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will board the train back to Cusco. Upon arrival in the city, transfer to the hotel and overnight stay in Cusco.
Day 3: CUSCO HOTEL DEPARTURE AND TRANSFER OUT
At the scheduled time, transfer from your hotel to the airport or bus terminal. Our staff will assist you with boarding.
