Inca Trail Availability 2025
Availability of Spaces for the Inca Trail 2025 and 2026
The Inca Trail is a historic hiking route in Peru that connects various archaeological sites to the citadel of Machu Picchu. It is one of the most famous trails in the world, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, cultural richness, and historical significance as part of the Inca Empire’s extensive road network.
If you plan to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu, please check the availability of permits for your desired date.
The calendar provides real-time information about permit availability for the Inca Trail. The number of spaces displayed below applies to all approved agencies selling permits for the trail. If the selected date shows zero spaces, it means that all available permits for that date have already been booked.
Permit management is overseen by the Ministry of Culture of Peru, the only authorized entity responsible for controlling access to the Inca Trail (as per Resolution N° 02-2003-LU-CD).
Access is limited to 500 permits per day, including both tourists and staff (guides, porters, and assistants). On average, 40% of the permits are allocated to visitors, while 60% are reserved for guides, porters, and support staff.
We recommend booking at least 3 to 6 months in advance, especially between May and July, as the Inca Trail is in high demand and considered the best route to experience Machu Picchu.
Permit availability for the Inca Trail is rapidly decreasing, and many travelers miss out. If you are seriously considering hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, secure your permit as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Book your trip now.
Note: Please be aware that the Inca Trail will be closed in February for maintenance.
