This temple, dedicated to the Sun God, housed golden objects as offerings to the gods and was the point from which the “Seqes” extended—imaginary lines across the Tawantinsuyo Empire that connected sacred places known as “wakas,” important religious and ceremonial sites for the Incas.
At 3:00 p.m., we will head to the Saqsayhuaman Archaeological Park to visit the following sites:
- Saqsayhuaman: A place of grandeur due to its impressive architecture and sacred significance. It features the largest stones in the entire city of Cusco, and its construction amazes all visitors.
- Q’enqo: A stone-carved table and a site used for embalming and mummification. The Incas took advantage of natural rock formations, adapting them into temples and sacred spaces.

At 6:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel by bus to start our visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After a 40-minute journey north of Cusco, we will arrive at the archaeological site of Chinchero, a living town that still preserves its original Inca layout. It is located in an important agricultural region. The church and its bell tower date back to colonial times, built upon Inca temples. Local artisans offer handmade textiles using ancestral techniques.
After our visit, we will continue by bus to Moray, a circular system of agricultural terraces built by taking advantage of natural land depressions. These terraces functioned as microclimates used for experimentation, domestication, acclimatization, and hybridization of plants.
Next, we will visit the Maras Salt Mines, which have been exploited since pre-Inca times. There are over 3,000 shallow salt pools owned by nearly 380 families. The salty water comes from natural underground sources filtering from the hill known as Qoripukiu (Golden Spring). Afterward, we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch in Urubamba, prepared with products from the Sacred Valley. Following lunch, we will continue our journey for 30 more minutes to reach the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. This area was continuously inhabited and served multiple functions during the Inca era. It was an administrative, military, social, and economic center, as well as a strategic checkpoint for different ecological zones.
